Meaning
Cryptographic parameter consistency represents the synchronized retention of the long term key across bonded Bluetooth Low Energy devices. Maintaining ble ltk state integrity prevents connection failures during subsequent reconnection attempts between a sensor node and a central gateway. When one device loses this key due to a power failure or a memory reset, the pairing database becomes asymmetric.
This condition causes immediate disconnection during the start encryption phase of the link layer connection.
Storage Vulnerability
Memory corruption during low voltage events represents a frequent cause of unsynchronized pairing data in resource constrained nodes. Flash memory page erases that do not finish before a backup battery fails will corrupt the security keys. Without a dedicated non volatile partition for bond information, the system cannot verify the identity of the returning central device.
This issue forces the system to either discard the existing bond or fail the connection attempt.
Validation Procedure
Verification of key presence occurs during the initial connection setup after the channel map is established. The central device initiates the start encryption request containing a random number and an encrypted diversifier. To check the ble ltk state integrity, the peripheral must locate the corresponding key in its database to generate the session key.
A failure to match these records forces a pin error or an unauthenticated link.
Recovery Strategy
Re-pairing represents the primary method to restore the security relationship. This process requires the peripheral to initiate a security request to force renegotiation. The host then generates a new key pair to replace the mismatched values.
