Meaning
A national technical standard governing electromagnetic compatibility and radio frequency performance for wireless local area network equipment defines the testing parameters for devices sold in South Korea. This standard, designated as ks x 3126, establishes the limits for spurious emissions, transmitter power, and receiver sensitivity in the five gigahertz band. Compliance with these limits is mandatory for any integrated wireless module that operates within domestic commercial or residential environments.
Testing Procedure
The measurement of transmitter performance is conducted in an anechoic chamber to prevent interference from external radio sources. A spectrum analyzer is used to verify that the out-of-band emissions of the module fall below the curve specified by the standard. This test sequence must be completed across the entire operating temperature range to guarantee stable performance under varying environmental conditions.
Engineers must record the results for each sub-channel to ensure that the device does not cause interference with neighboring frequency allocations used by public safety services.
Integration Requirement
System integrators who use a pre-certified module must still verify that the final host configuration does not degrade the radio performance. The placement of the antenna within the enclosure can alter the emission profile, potentially pushing the system outside the boundaries defined by the standard. Consequently, a simplified test sequence is often required for the completed assembly to confirm that the radiation pattern remains compliant.
Compliance Document
Validation of a module’s compliance requires a formal test report from an accredited laboratory to serve as the primary evidence required by regulatory authorities. This report must include detailed logs of the frequency stability and occupied bandwidth measurements to be accepted by the National Radio Research Agency. Without this document, the product cannot receive the KC mark required for commercial sale.
