Meaning
Production line software orchestrates the execution of electrical and functional tests on manufactured hardware. Through the factory test executive, the manufacturing team runs different test cases, gathers results, and logs them to a database. This framework controls the test instruments, switches power rails, and manages the flow of the test sequence.
It ensures that every manufactured device undergoes the exact same quality checks.
Execution Control
The testing sequence is run according to a predefined configuration file. It steps through the boot loader check, voltage measurements, and radio calibration in a strict order. If a device fails any step, the execution stops or branches to a diagnostics routine to save time.
This control reduces the time spent on faulty units.
Data Collection
Test results must be captured and saved for traceability. The factory test executive logs the numeric outputs of every test, along with the device serial number and the time of the test. These logs are transmitted to a central database for real-time monitoring of line yields.
This automated capture prevents manual data entry errors on the factory floor.
Driver Interface
The test system communicates with the instruments through standard measurement drivers. This layer allows the same test executive to run on different physical stations with different oscilloscopes or power supplies. Hardware changes do not require rewriting the core test scripts because the driver interface abstracts the hardware commands.
This separation of concerns allows easy maintenance of the test line as old instruments are replaced. It also helps in scaling the test capacity by allowing the deployment of varied instruments without major software updates.
